Identifying ancestors from old family photographs gives added depth to your family history

And not only family photographs that you and especially your older relatives might have - but also other family memorabilia items that may be hidden away, for example:

  • Family Bibles with recorded births, deaths and marriages.
  • Letters from relatives.
  • Military service medals.
  • Awards and trophies.
  • Membership of societies.
  • Copies of Wills.
  • Any newspaper clippings that mention the family.
  • Those family anecdotes and stories that just might have an element of truth in them.



And while collecting these amongst the wider family, why not ask the older family members to record their memories of relatives they knew, travels they have made, any fondly remembered incidents in their life and so on.
