I find
family history research a most exciting activity - whether it is my family or your
family research. As I find details of each succeeding generation and add them to
the overall family tree it gives me the greatest buzz and feeling of satisfaction.
For over 20 years I have been consciously doing family history research and from 2002
on a professional basis. Beyond those 20 years, going back into my early
childhood - say 40 years ago, I was engaged helping my father transcribe gravestones
in the most overrun of graveyards and helping him well into the night drawing up
pedigree and descendancy charts - so perhaps it's in my blood!
Although by birth and upbringing my background and ancestry is Irish, having lived
in England for the past 36 years - and with an English wife, my focus and expertise
has developed on English and Welsh research. I permanently wish that I could do more
of my Irish research but Irish research is blighted by many lost records and a large
degree of poorly directed management and access to what is left - it will be
my "retirement" project!
My motto, or mantra as some would have it is, "Family History without sources is
just gossip". This has resulted in my emphasis over the past few years of being
scrupulously detailed not only about source citations, but being able to build
family trees that can directly link to scanned images of all the original
material - this to my mind makes the family tree come alive and provide a much
deeper and satisfying experience - a wonderful result of modern technology!
If you do engage my services for any research, I can promise my utmost interest
and commitment to your requirements; whether or not you do so, I wish you the
best of fortune (and luck!) in finding those ancestors!
