Pedigree Charts

Where a number of linking generations has been established a Pedigree Chart can highlight the scope of the research and results from a current generation back though each preceding generation.

The "standard" form of pedigree chart will typically have four generations on a page - showing the "starting person", then:

  • Their Parents
  • Their Grand Parents
  • Their Great Grand Parents

Each entry will have abbreviated data on birth/christening, marriage and death/burial details. To extend the pedigree, each of the great grand parents on the right hand side would become a "starting person" on a sequence of continuation pedigree charts.

An attractive enhancement is to have photographs of each individual on the pedigree chart included - at least as far back as photographs can be obtained.

This is a further form of pedigree chart that can more comfortably fit 7 or 8 generations on a typical page and is colour coded for the main grandparent paternal and maternal lines - although having reduced information on each individual, provides a better instant impression of the overall pedigree.
